Data Acquisition Hardware.

The computer processor and data acquisition hardware are combined into one Ruggedized case for use wherever the job requires. The lid of the case contains the display monitor (similar to a laptop design), while the base of the suitcase contains the computer and DAS hardware. All of the bulkhead connections are located in ruggedized breakout cables that have eight connectors for your sensors and mates to the computer via one 50-pin military spec DB-50 connector. Analog inputs on one side; 6 Frequency inputs and two expansion connectors on the other). This system is capable of taking signals directly from sensors on field equipment and conditioning them into digital information that goes directly into the PC software. This new system provides customers with one integrated solution, whereas previously a DAS suitcase, laptop, and a software program were required to perform the same job.

You can think of a data acquisition system as a collection of software and hardware that connects you to the physical world. A typical data acquisition system consists of these components.

Whatever your requirements in the control and instrumentation environment, DASYLab can meet your needs. From research and analysis to large-scale production and quality control, DASYLab is flexible enough to meet any requirement. More than 250 data acquisition boards and systems are supported through special drivers. Data acquisition hardware is connected to DASYLab through the RS232 and/or IEEE bus modules. You can exchange data between DASYLab and other Windows applications via DDE.

Measurement Computing Corporation offers the largest selection of PC-based data acquisition hardware and software products. From PCI, USB, PC/104, ISA, and PCMCIA bus boards to external systems based on USB, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and GPIB interfaces; Measurement Computing has everything you need for your PC-based data acquisition and control applications.

Two joysticks are available to provide input signals to the systems as a means of manual operator control. Click here for the schematic diagram of the overall sensors, control and data acquisition system.

A commercial impact-echo test system was developed in 1990 at Cornell University. It includes a rugged laptop style computer that functions as the data acquisition system. Special software has been written to set up the data acquisition parameters and perform the data analysis. The system also includes a handheld unit that houses the receiving transducer and a series of different-sized impactors. A suitable system can also be assembled from off-the-shelf components. The waveform analyzer (or data acquisition card) must have a high sampling frequency (500 kHz as a minimum), and the receiving transducer should preferably be a broadband displacement transducer. Accelerometers have been used but they must not have resonant frequencies in the range of those measured during impact-echo testing and additional signal processing is required.

NI CompactDAQ is a general-purpose data acquisition and control system that you can implement in a wide range of applications. It uses open software to run built-in data-logging programs for simple applications or to develop custom acquisition, analysis, control, and display programs for more demanding applications. NI CompactDAQ hardware and software are simple to use for quick benchtop measurements, small enough to take in the field with a laptop, and powerful enough to handle production line testing and light ATE. Customers are using NI CompactDAQ for applications ranging from in-vehicle test to environmental data logging to portable vibration monitoring.

Because data acquisition hardware is coupled with the software, which users can adapt for their own unique applications, data acquisition systems can be configured to fulfill a range of purposes. They're used for test and measurement and for industrial automation, and also can serve as the eyes of a production line or the nose of a sensor.

In order to time scanning and acquisition precisely and to achieve high performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio, on-line averaging, and real-time image refresh, many commercially available laser-scanning microscopes (e.g. Commercial systems are suitable for many applications and have also been customized for specific experimental needs [4,8-10]. However, complete custom design is often more advantageous and cost effective [11-13]. Two major impediments to custom design are the specialized software and hardware required for laser scanning microscopy.

Innoventor's engineers have created vision inspection systems and pick-and-pack equipment for customers; they've designed machine control systems and robotics. All the while, they've relied heavily on data acquisition test and measurement hardware and software to create systems specific to a customer's needs, said Sam Hammond, the chief engineer. Data acquisition systems are a check on the confidence that today's computer-aided design and analysis software engender.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides for a method and apparatus for ultrasonic data acquisition and transfer in real-time. The components, according to the present invention, include a server computer connected to on-site ultrasonic data acquisition hardware and a communications medium. The server computer comprises residential communication software and on-site data acquisition software for acquiring and transferring the ultrasonic data from the on-site ultrasonic data acquisition hardware to a remote location over the communications medium. The communications medium is furthermore connected electronically to a client computer. The client computer has data acquisition and processing software, which enables it to interact with and access the ultrasonic data from the on-site ultrasonic data acquisition hardware, in real-time, based on a software algorithm or computer executable code.

NI CompactDAQ does not support the CAN module, but National Instruments does have a solution to synchronize NI CompactDAQ with one of several NI CAN interfaces, including the PCMCIA CAN card. See the application note below for more information on this system setup.

Analog inputs: Typical voltage inputs are 0-1 V, 0-10 V, 50 mV, 100 mV, 0.5 V, 5 V, and 10 V. Other inputs include 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, frequency, and resistance. Most of the big four process control measurements-flow, temperature, pressure, and level-fit one or more of these input ranges. Most data acquisition products have selectable or programmable analog inputs that accept the signal, and send it to a 12- or 16-bit A/D converter.

To some extent, the NDE equipment and the data acquisition system tend to be totally integrated into the computing system. Therefore, this makes that the whole system becomes computerised and its functions programmable allowing the flexibility and adaptability to any type of inspection requirements. This refers to, f.

However, other factors might also affect the reading, such as a change in the excitation voltage. This is of especial concern in long-term measurements where component values may drift with time and temperature. However, with suitable hardware and software like Windmill, a computerised system can measure the excitation at any time and then adjust the strain results for changes in the excitation voltage.

MIDAS data acquisition hardware is PC-based and allows multichannel data acquisition, storage and screen rendering in real time. At the same time, through the mechanical scanner controller, it supervise the performance of the movements of the scanner. In order to optimize the inspection performance, the user could select the information to be acquired (f. In some cases, it is convenient to acquire all the relevant information and works only with what is required. Later on, if needed any additional assessment could be performed.

The goal of this study is a first order proof of the feasibility of the medical imaging concept proposed above. The concept could be developed with various medical imaging modalities, such as ultrasound or even x-ray. It would be most economical with medical imaging systems in which the data acquisition hardware is relatively inexpensive and which requires substantial computation for image reconstruction.

Data acquisition hardware is either internal and installed directly into an expansion slot inside your computer, or external and connected to your computer through an external cable. For example, VXI modules are installed in an external VXI chassis, and data is transferred between MATLAB workspace and the module using an external link such as FireWire (IEEE 1394).

This package provides 12 channels of pH measurement. It comprises Windmill software, a data acquisition and control unit which plugs into the PC's USB port and pH signal conditioning. The pH electrodes connect to BNC sockets. You will also need a separate power supply.

The DAQ engine directly communicates with the acquisition board and presents a flexible, object-oriented environment in which to construct DAQ software. In many scientific and engineering communities, MATLAB has become the dominant language for desktop numerical computing [16]. Integration of custom written analysis functions and incorporation of additional software is much more tractable for novice programmers in MATLAB, simplifying much of the experimental design process.
